14th AUGUST - PAKISTAN’S INDEPENDENCE DAY

On the 14th of August, every year whole Pakistani nation celebrates Pakistan's Independence Day, however, it has become more ceremonial rather than celebrating it in its true letter & spirit.  The foundation of Pakistan's independence was laid through the sacrifices of countless individuals who fought tirelessly for the creation of a separate homeland for Muslims in the Indian subcontinent.

Some of the key sacrifices that played a significant role in Pakistan’s Independence are:

1. Political Leadership: Leaders like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, commonly referred to as Quaid-e-Azam (Great Leader), dedicated their lives to championing the cause of a separate Muslim state. Jinnah's tireless efforts and political acumen were crucial in negotiating with the British and other political parties to secure the creation of Pakistan.

2. Civil Disobedience Movements: People from all walks of life participated in civil disobedience movements, such as the Khilafat Movement and the Pakistan Movement, to protest British rule and demand independence. These movements involved strikes, protests, and mass rallies, demonstrating the unity and determination of the people.

3. Partition Violence: The partition of India and the subsequent creation of Pakistan led to tragic communal violence. Many lives were lost, and people endured immense suffering during the mass migration that followed. Despite these hardships, the desire for an independent state remained strong.

4. Humanitarian Efforts: Countless individuals and organizations providing support and assistance to those affected by the partition violence. They worked tirelessly to provide relief, medical aid, and shelter to refugees, helping to rebuild lives and communities.

5. Armed Struggle: The armed struggle for independence was carried out by freedom fighters who fought against British forces and those who opposed the creation of Pakistan. It is really important to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by all those who played a role in the foundation of Pakistan's independence. Every Pakistan should realize that as we celebrate Pakistan's Independence Day, it is essential to reflect on the needs of the present time and work towards a better future for the nation. This could be carried out could be done through the following elements which could be considered the real need of the hour:

1. Unity and Tolerance: Promoting unity and fostering a sense of inclusivity and tolerance among the diverse communities in Pakistan is crucial. Emphasizing the value of diversity and encouraging dialogue can help strengthen social cohesion and harmony.

2. Education and Skill Development: Investing in quality education and skill development programs is vital to empower the youth and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in today's rapidly evolving world. By focusing on education, we can create a more prosperous and progressive Pakistan.

3. Economic Growth and Job Creation: Prioritizing economic growth and job creation is essential to uplift the nation. Encouraging entrepreneurship, attracting investments, and developing industries can lead to increased employment opportunities and a stronger economy.

4. Sustainable Development: As custodians of the environment, it is crucial to prioritize sustainable development. Emphasizing renewable energy, promoting eco-friendly practices, and addressing climate change can help build a greener and more sustainable Pakistan.

5. Social Welfare and Healthcare: Ensuring access to quality healthcare, social welfare programs, and support for vulnerable communities is essential for a just and equitable society. It is important to focus on improving healthcare infrastructure, addressing poverty, and providing equal opportunities for all. By addressing these needs, we can work towards building a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Pakistan. Based on all these elements it is essential that let's use the occasion of Independence Day as an opportunity to unite and collectively strive for a better future for our beloved country.

Pakistanis celebrate Independence Day on August 14th each year with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The celebration typically includes a variety of activities and traditions that showcase the spirit of independence. Some common ways in which Pakistanis celebrate this special day are:

Flag Hoisting: The day starts with the hoisting of the national flag at various public and private buildings. This is often accompanied by the national anthem, and people gather to witness the ceremony with pride and reverence.

Parades and Marches: Colorful parades and military marches are held in different cities, showcasing the strength and unity of Pakistan's armed forces. These parades are attended by both civilians and military personnel, fostering a sense of national pride.

Cultural Events: Pakistan's rich cultural heritage is celebrated through various cultural events, such as music concerts, traditional dance performances, and exhibitions. These events showcase the diversity and artistic talents of the Pakistani people.

In short what we see is that Pakistan is indeed an independent state that gained independence on August 14th, 1947. So besides the traditional celebrations, a new futuristic approach can be adopted which will incorporate technology and innovation while still honoring the rich history and culture of the country. All of this can be done through:

Virtual Reality Tours: Create virtual reality experiences that allow people to explore important historical landmarks in Pakistan, such as the Minar-e-Pakistan or the Badshahi Mosque. This would give people a chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of these sites without actually being there.
